Build a Rewarding Eye Care Career as an Optometrist in Riverhead, New York

Opportunity Overview:

Cohen's Fashion Optical is seeking a patient-focused optometrist to deliver exceptional vision care in an in-person practice in Riverhead, New York. This is an outstanding opportunity for a Doctor of Optometry who wants to combine meaningful clinical work with the energy of a modern optical environment. You will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on patients' daily lives through comprehensive eye exams, eye health education, contact lens care and diagnosis of ocular conditions while earning a competitive annual salary of $150,000 to $170,000.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations that evaluate visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision, ocular health and patients' changing vision needs.
  • Diagnose, manage and appropriately refer patients with ocular disease, cataracts, low-vision concerns and other conditions requiring attentive primary eye care.
  • Use clinical testing, including visual field testing, keratometry, pretesting and optical coherence tomography, to support accurate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
  • Fit and manage contact lens patients, offering personalized guidance that promotes comfort, healthy wear and long-term satisfaction.
  • Educate patients on preventive eye care, treatment plans, follow-up needs, LASIK considerations and vision correction options in clear, compassionate language.
  • Collaborate with optical and clinical team members to create a smooth, welcoming patient experience from the exam through eyewear selection and patient recall.

What You'll Bring:

  • Hold a current Doctor of Optometry degree and an active New York optometry license, enabling you to provide high-quality patient care independently.
  • Bring strong expertise in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, eye care diagnosis and visual acuity assessment.
  • Are comfortable identifying and managing common ocular disease presentations while recognizing when an ophthalmology referral is appropriate.
  • Communicate with empathy and professionalism, helping patients feel informed, respected and confident in their care decisions.
  • Take a detail-oriented, patient-first approach and work effectively with a collaborative, in-person practice team.

Preferred Clinical Experience:

  • Experience with contact lenses, visual fields, optical coherence tomography, cataract evaluations, vision therapy, low vision or patient recall programs is valued.
  • Familiarity with pretesting workflows and an optical retail setting will help you contribute quickly to an efficient patient journey.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Enjoy a competitive annual salary of $150,000 to $170,000, reflecting the value of your clinical expertise and patient care leadership.
  • Receive health insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, holiday pay and paid time off to support your well-being inside and outside of work.
